Angry Republican/Loving American

 Been a long time
Back to Full Blog

Hi everybody! I haven't been around in a while. My computer went bye-bye. I'm planning to take it to my cousin's to get it fixed, but just haven't had the time. I also haven't really have the time to catch up on the news. But I have read in our local paper about the immigration problem that we are having. Oh my, I don't know what people are thinking. For anyone to buy into the load of crap these illegals are handing out is ludicriss. Come on. They are chanting things like "WE ARE NOT CRIMINALS", if you are not, then what are you? Last time I checked, if you broke the law, that made you a criminal.

If I go to a place that said that blonde men can't speak, and I thought it was a stupid law, and talked any way, then I would be breaking the law, and thus would be a criminal. To steep for you? I am not racist, nor am I against othe nationalities, what I am against is people using illegal tactics to get their say.

I was just sitting here thinking that some people might say that what they are doing is no different than what the colonist did when we broke and won our freedom from England. But it is not even close. The colonist lived here. many were born here. Alot of them had been sent here. The british King hadn't even set foot here in America. It was also a different time.

These people are coming here from a different country, without our permission, and demanding the right to do so. The are not here legally.

I do have a solution to the problem, though. I have though of this for a long time. Build a fence from the Gulf to the Pacific. Use the Naval SeaBees to do this. They are already being paid, so they can use this as a training excersize. They have the machinery and the man power to do this. Have the Army Corps. Of Engineers to help. Then raise enlistment quota's in th army and the marines. Also the coast Guard. Set up units all along the fence with the sole duty to protect our southern border. The only true extra cost that the wall will have is materials to build it.

When you go to get the supplies, pass a federal law against price gouging the government, which, by the way, is a lont time in coming. That way, the government can get the supplies at the lowest cost.

And one last thing. There was a kid in Tulsa that had "DO I LOOK LIKE A CRIMINAL TO YOU" written across his back. My answer to that is this. Are you an American citizen? Is you parents? Did they come over here by illegal means? If the answer to those are yes, then yes, you are a criminal. Unfortunately, there are alot of kids involved in this problem. And it is not their faults. But there has to be responsibility put on the parents for their criminal act.

Good to have you back!

As I have said in many posts ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL. There is no way around that the way things are now and rewarding someone for breaking a crime regardless of how ridiculous is ridiculous. We need a clean slate and then we can start changing laws.

Great "I'm Back" post!

<<>> Your plan calls for widened resources which we lack at the moment. Unfortunately indeed Katrina levees alone, as projected, will take anywhere from five to ten years and billions of dollars to accomplish - syphoning resources from reserves earmarked for other projects. The most realistic approach falls under the president's proposal which, if undertaken, would free internal resources in order to concentrate on border security .A great number of these guys
are here working without paying taxes - why not document them, fingerprint them (to keep the criminals away),and allow them to pay the much needed tax money at a two-year incremental rate via authorization . Bet after a year the process will be hailed as worthier than the endless classroom-teaching-type rhetoric over who the founding fathers were and what illegal immigrants mean to us .If we look before leaping we may avoid falling into holes on our journey to success.

I think there is so many willing to hide and/or pay illegals 'under the table' that I almost wonder if the penalty of doing this should be stiffer (Fine wise) and perhaps then we can eliminate the support of the illegal alien.
If there is no way for them to earn money, that would soon close the gap some in itself?
I work for Hope Unites, a non-profit organization, designed to help in the golf port and it is true that we need to build a levee before a fence, so I think somehow we have to start making a way to hold more accountability on those who support someone without the legal means of residing here.

A suggestion, with regards to the cost of building a wall that could easily rival the Great Wall of China: Cheap labor in the U.S. for this effort can be had quite readily: Prisoners in the U.S. can build the wall. Learn a trade and help national security.

Hey, furious, if you really want to have your mind boggled, wander over to the Mexican Government homepage, and look up their rules regarding immigration to thier country. You might get a kick out of the irony, if you know what I mean. ie: If you come here illegally, you will be sent back. To be a citizen, you must speak the language. etc. Gee, sounds pretty strict. SO how come no one is calling Vincente Fox a racist?
Great post, as usual.

I can hardly read your comments page -- please change your color scheme -- clarity is more important than patriotism.

People need to work to eat and survive, and capitalists exploit them -- and do everything they can to blame the worker when things go sour.

Wake up and smell the tortillas, guys.

It's the big corporations that are at fault. Every company guilty of hiring illegals should be fined, say, $10,000 a day. If illegals could not get jobs here, they would go back to Mexico.

Our government won't touch the corporations, though. They have millions to "buy off" our lawmakers. Sadly, money talks....

Where, intellectually, do we get off on saying that people are coming to what is now known as America illegally? Our history is less that 1/2 of 1% of human history. Couldn't, and shouldn't, the Native Americans have more to say in that regard. They did populate this area for about ten-fold the time we have.

If you sync the human history with a calendar year, we got here at around Jan. 2 at noon. Is it because we won the glorious battles against the Indians that give us the right to proclaim self-righteousness? If so, than we must see that the immigrants are winning the current glorious battle. They have certainly populated this area at a rate that Ben Franklin would admire.

We have morally fought the idea of fences and walls and now propose them? I think the next "Reagan" will come to power in Mexico and say, "Mr. Bush, tear down this wall!"

Americanism is hurridly reaching the epoch of the Romans; widely feared, but with crosshairs zeroed in.

It is a brave new world, I wish were as prepared as the emerging markets for the E Pluribus Unum (The New World Order) printed on the back of the almighty buck$

We give the Isreali's back their land that was taken. Should we give back ours?

Well, apart from the fact that your spelling is atrocious, there are several serious problems with your argument. First, children born in the US ARE American citizens, even if their parents aren't. This is a matter of law. Second, there is no way that a fence will be built from the gulf to the pacific, there simply isn't the political will for it. Not even in your Republican party. Even the idiot in chief is against that. Finally, I'm tired of hearing the argument that illegals are criminals. Certainly they broke the law to come here, but it's not like they are murderers. Besides, if you were born in Mexico (unless you were lucky enough to be born into the ruling class), you would be trying to get here too. And more would come legally, if we let them. The fact is that the government makes it hard for Mexicans and other Central Americans to come here legally, while making it relatively easy for people from India, Asia and other places.

I had to give a persuasion speech for my final grade in my college speech class. we were to pick controversial topics. Since my school is in California, and over half the class was hispanic, I picked immigration policy. It was to be well researched with footnotes, quotes, etc.. I recieved an A, in fact in the 8 years that the professor has been teaching the class in has been the only perfect 100/100 grade that she has ever given for that final speech. I say that only to preface that I had to research boths sides of the issue even though my particular bent on the policy and the limited time to present the issues had me to focus on the National security side, and that according to Con. Duncan Hunter who lives in the district that actually has a wall along the border. He said that regardless of your "politcal" views the wall is the "Only" thing that has worked. So my presentation was that for national security reasons a combination of a fence/high security wall and the addition of another 30,000 border patrol agents would be the only thing athat could intially put a dent in the upwards of 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 illegal aliens that cross our southern border annually. These figures can be backed up by both border patrol statistics, and information from the senate office of John McCain.
My proposal would cost about $1 -2 billion dollars annually. Which is not much since we are at a minimum of $10 -12 billion dollars in the red annually with tax dollar payments that go out to families headed by illegal aliens, compared to the tax revenue that comes in from them. And that red ink will double or more if they are given citizenship because as US citizens they would be entitled to alot more money.
Then next biggest problem after this will be the second wave once amnesty is granted by 2008. That being that all of those new citizens will then be able to sponsor other family members to be able to come into this country then "legally".
Whant needs to be done in order to perserve our union is : 1.) a border must be erected for national security reasons, 2.) A minimum of 30,000+ border patrol agents must be hired( NYC has a police department of 35,000 men to patrol a city of 10,000,000 people) 3.)Raids and heavy fines, and jail time must be handed out to corporate offenders of hiring illegal aliens 4.) any assimilation program must have english as an official and nationally unifying language, otherwise we repeat Canada's mistake with Ontario. Within a specified amount of time of this enactment then all bilingualism programs supported by tax dollars would cease, because there would be no need for them any longer. Promoting further tax savings because of duplication.
If we shut down the border in this way, and stop this current non military invasion of our country, then Mexico will be forced by internal growing discontent to change their government, or face overthrow from within.

Very interesting all of this. Not the points that you are making about immigration but your lack of BIG picture thinking. The big picture my dear friend is that with our declining birthrate there will be nobody left to pay for your retirement by the time you hit that age. And it doesn't look like the birthrate is going to increase anytime soon.
The only real solution: Increase LEGAL immigration. Invite more people to come and live in the US and pay the taxes that will feed you once you are too old to get a job.
So why hasn't this government done enough of that?
Answer: Lack of big picture thinking.

First of all if these illegal immigrants are criminals for crossing the border, then the businesses that employ them should also be arrested for employing illegals. This is not done, not even as a thought, why? Because they do jobs that no Citizen would ever think of doing, like serving irate people food, cultivating their lawns, repairing their roofs, cleaning their cars, and cleaning their hotel rooms. Until the owners of these profitable businesses are arrested, and put in jail, nothing can be done about the problem.

Some are even in the Army, and let's face the US hires people from India to work in Computer Information Technology jobs which do pay good money, and this pisses me off because then they want to pay the Citizens less because of this. The trend of outsourcing all manufacturing jobs to China which is still a communist country last time I looked it up, and makes a few citizens rich while the middle class suffers. This will continue to happen. If the US wanted to stop the invasion of illegals to come here and work to send back money to their families in Mexico and central america they could. One of the other issues is that they inserted puppet presidents in these countries to distroy their economy, which forces the influx of illegals here. The blame lays with our own government. By the way Mexico wants a recount of the votes taken recently because they are sure that the same thing that happened in Florida in 2000, and Ohio in 2004, took place in Mexico with votes being changed or not counted at all by machines made by Debold which are very easy to hack. I bet they were made in China.

The 1200 miles of fencing and 30,000 border-patrol/corrections officers will eventually cost billions of dollars--which we do not have. With the economic disparity being what it is, Mexicans will go over, under, or around anything that is constructed to get to the US. The only viable solutions are either annexation or increased legal immigration. If we want more Mexicans to stay in Mexico, we must annex that nation as a territory, grant its citizens all of the governmental benefits we enjoy and begin to collect taxes. If we don't annex, then we might as well all sign up for Spanish-101.

Max, we have a guy running for Gov in Arizona right now who wants to do this exactly - build a fence and put a bunch of people on the border. Watch our taxes go up!

I wish the president would lead on this issue. He chooses not to. I have no idea what the real answers are, but we elected Congress for a reason. I guess they forgot what the reasons were.
